Message Well, took my newly 'stage 3' Z (auto) to the track last night. My bro in his C5 convertible also went along. I'm still not impressed with my times and I think there are still some issues with my car, but there is still some room for improvement on my part. I got 5 runs in and could've done more (more on that later). My previous best was 14.1. This was with my 17" TSW Revos and a vacuum hose mix up... and all I had was intake and ECU/welding tips. That was also my first time ever at the track.

This time around, I put my stock wheels on with some old ass Dunlop SP 4000s on them. They had barely any tread on them. I also had a new $tillen exhaust installed a couple weeks ago.

Got to the track around 7pm.. it was still about 85 degrees out.

1st Run:
14.074 @ 101.441 MPH
.818 reaction
2.444 60ft

Got a ton of wheel spin all through first and into 2nd. Throughout the next few runs I got a little better. But my 60 ft times never really improved. Probably those crappy Dunlops that just weren't hooking up. I had the tire pressure at 25 PSI and then dropped to 20 PSI on my last two runs.

2nd run:
13.904 @ 102.266 MPH
.744 reaction
2.376 60ft

3rd run:
13.869 @ 104.114 MPH
.708 reaction
2.386 60ft

This run was against my bro's C5 convertible (automatic). He has intake and some "PowerLoader" software that changed his shifting points and made them feel more firm. The entire race we were pretty much dead even. He managed to get a 13.5 on the run but still his car was only about half a car length ahead of me in the end. Amazing how little distance .2 seconds is.

4th run:
13.762 @ 104.087 MPH
.670 reaction
2.340 60ft

My best run of the night. This was also against my bro. I actually beat him on this one. He had a crappy launch (2.41 60 ft) and reaction time (1.172).

5th run:
OK, this is where it gets scary. For some reason, I decided to do a little burn out. Hahaha! I spun the wheels a little bit and then went to stage up. When it came time to launch, the car just crawled off the line as if it were in a high gear (I'm guessing 3rd). I was like..... "aw shit there goes the tranny". So I just cruised the rest of the way and still managed a 16.961 @ 68.016 MPH. haha.

I pulled into the parking lot and let it idle for a little bit. I went to drive it around to see how the tranny was doing. It still took off as if it were in a high gear. Damn, I thought for sure it was dead. Then I remembered a post SeedyRom posted about his tranny being "in shock" or something. And that it will 'fix' itself if you just give it some rest or whatever. So I shut the car off for a minute and re-started. The Automatic Transmission light on the dashboard started flashing a code. I didn't count how many times it went off, but it flashed several times then stopped. I drove it around and *phewwwwww* it drove normally and everything seems to be fine now. I decided to call it a night at that point... Didn't want to risk even more problems.

I think if I didn't have that tranny problem, I might have managed a 13.6 or something. It was getting much cooler by then (low 70s). Looking at my timeslips, my biggest problem was the 60ft time. I never got below 2.3 seconds which ain't all that great. Next time I will just leave my TSW Revo wheels/tires on. Speaking of wheels, as I was putting them back on I decided to weigh both tires/wheels. The stock rear tire+wheel weighed 42 lbs. And one of my TSW Revo+tire weighed 50 lbs. So there is only about an 8 lb difference... multiplied by 4 is 32 lbs. Will 32 lbs REALLY make a big performance difference?

At least with my 17" wheel/tires I will get better grip. So that will improve the 60ft times, but I wonder if the extra 32 lbs. will just cancel it out?

Some pictures will be up later......
